ARMY WAR COLLEGE HOLDS WARGAMING TRAINING FOR FACULTY MEMBERS

In a bid to increase the capacity of the College, the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) in conjunction with the United States Army War College (USAWC) conducted a week long wargaming session for members of Faculty. During the period of the training, members of Faculty were exposed to the essentials of wargaming both at operational and strategic levels. Highlights of the training included the playing of a matrix game, Flashpoint Lake Chad, specially designed for the MNJTF scenario; and another game, Bandarian Dawn which gives insights on the deployment of instruments of national power in asymmetric warfare. The team also took participants of Course 6/2022 on a Wargaming lecture which was concluded with a robust interactive session.

The 3-man USAWC Wargaming Team led by Col Frank Scherra expressed satisfaction with the level of assimilation and keen interest shown by participants to learn the art of wargaming. He stated this when he paid a visit to the Commandant AWCN , Maj Gen BA Alabi in his office. He stressed that the USAWC will continue to collaborate with AWCN especially in the area of course content development one of which he said was the wargaming package. Responding, the Comdt appreciated the Commandant USAWC for facilitating the capacity building programme. Maj Gen Alabi added that he looked forward to more collaboration between both Colleges.
