CURRICULUM VITAE COMMANDANT ARMY WAR COLLEGE NIGERIA
Maj Gen Bamidele Alli Alabi was born on 21 October 1970 in Ilorin, Kwara State. He had his primary education from 1976 – 1982, secondary school from 1982 – 1987 and higher secondary education from 1988 – 1989. He was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on 17 September 1989 as a member of the 41 Regular Combatant Course. He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps on 17 September 1994.
He served in 103 Battalion Enugu, 5 Battalion Kano, 93 Battalion Warri and 195 Battalion Agenebode as a platoon commander, company commander, battalion second in command and commanding officer respectively between 1994 and 2013. Within the same period, he served as an instructor at NDA from 2003 to 2005 and as Directing Staff in the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Nigeria from 2008 to 2011. He was also deployed at the Army Headquarters Department of Training and Operations as Assistant Director of Campaign Planning G5 from 2011 – 2012 and Army Headquarters Department of Administration as Deputy Director of Records from 2013 – 2015.
He was a Chief Instructor at AFCSC from 2014 to 2015. He was also a pioneer Directing Staff at the Army War College Nigeria from August 2016 – December 2018. Thereafter, he commanded 3 Brigade Kano from 28 December 2018 to 23 Apr 21. He participated in the ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) Operation in Liberia from 1995 to 1998 as a platoon commander, United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) from 2000 to 2001 as a company commander and United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) from 2012 to 2013 as Commanding Officer Nigerian Battalion (NIBATT) 29 and various Internal Security operations within Nigeria.
He was also deployed in Operation LAST HOLD in Northern Borno State as the Chief of Staff (COS) from 24 April – 13 October 2018. Some key courses he attended include the Company Commanders Course (Infantry) and Commanding Officers Course (Infantry) in the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Junior Staff Course and Senior Command and Staff Course in AFCSC, Advanced Command and Staff Course in the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Shrivenham, United Kingdom, and Higher Defence Management and Strategic Course at the National Defence College Nigeria. He has a BSc in Biological Sciences, a Master of International Affairs and Diplomacy, a Master of Arts in Defence Studies and a Master of Philosophy in Security and Strategic Studies.
He is also a Senior Harvard Kennedy School, USA Executive Fellow. He is decorated with ECOMOG, UNAMSIL, UNMIL, General Operations, Operation LAST HOLD, Golden Jubilee and the Centenary medals. Other decorations include Forces Services Star, Meritorious Services Star, Distinguished Service Star, Command Medal and Field Command Medal. Until his recent appointment as the fifth Commandant of Army War College, he was the immediate past Director of Studies at the College. His hobbies include reading, swimming, watching movies, travelling, keeping fit and playing golf. He is married to Mrs Sikirat Bukola Alabi and blessed with children.
