OPERATIONS THEATRE VISIT: ARMY WAR COLLEGE NIGERIA VISITS THEATRE COMMAND OPHK

On Thursday, 6 October 2022, the Commandant Army War College Nigeria (AWCN), Major General BA Alabi led a delegation of Directors, Members of Faculty and Participants of AWCN Course 6 of 2022 on an operations theatre visit to Theatre Command Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK).

On arrival, the Commandant paid a courtesy visit on the Theatre Commander JTF NE OPHK, Maj Gen CG Musa at the Command Headquarters. Thereafter, the number one Teacher in AWCN and his team proceeded to the Theatre Conference Hall where the participants were thoroughly briefed on the activities of JTF NE OPHK.

The Commandant disclosed that the visit was aimed at exposing participants to the current asymmetric military operations in the North East; bearing in mind that knowledge of the operational environment as well as emerging challenges, will enable them develop viable plans which would enhance JTF operations in the theatre and equally sharpen the operational planning skills of the participants.

While expressing immense appreciation for the warm reception and detailed brief, Maj Gen Alabi commended the Theatre Commander for the improved synergy between the military, para-military agencies, hybrid forces, Borno State Government, civilian components as well as other critical stakeholders in the North East. The team also lauded the impressive improvement and tireless efforts of the Theatre Commander and his team in ensuring that peace and normalcy return to the region.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander urged the participants to “open their minds to learning”. He also assured them that the Theatre remains committed to achieving the set objectives of the National Security Mandate of the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari as well as actualizing the vision of the Service Chiefs.

The Theatre Commander further revealed that the war against terrorism in the North East will soon come to an end as the FG and State Governments were taking necessary steps towards a successful Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Programme.

Highlights of the event was the brief delivered by Chief J3, Col BC Eze, an alumnus of AWCN, interactive session, presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
