ARMY WAR COLLEGE NIGERIA INAUGURATES COURSE 7/2023

 

The Army War College Nigeria inaugurated 74 participants of the Higher Military  Strategic and Management Course 7/2023 on 17 February 2023. The event was held at the TY Buratai Auditorium of the AWCN.

The colourful ceremony which marked the official commencement of the course had in attendance principal staff officers from Services headquarters, defence attachés, former commandants of the College and other dignitaries.

The participants for Course 7/2023 include senior military officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy and Airforce as well as allied participants from 7 allied nations. The allied nations are Benin Republic, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Gambia, Niger, Liberia and Morocco.

In his keynote address, the Special Guest of Honour, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen F Yahaya CFR NAM congratulated the participants on their nomination to attend the course. He also stated that the course content would undoubtedly equip them with the requisite expertise to plan and execute military operations in various theatres of operations. He exhorted the participants to remain focused and apply themselves towards maximizing the benefits of the course.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen OA Iheajirika CFR (rtd). The lecture with the theme, “The Role of the Nigerian Army in National Development” touched on contemporary threats including terrorism, insurgency and banditry.

Mean While The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has charged troops of the Nigerian Army to always put in their best and contribute to the success of the force in all its campaigns.

The inaugural lecturer highlighted current efforts of the NA in nation building and further projected possible nation building roles of the Force in the future security environment. The inauguration was concluded with a group photograph and luncheon.
