CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF HOLDS INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH PARTICIPANTS OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE NIGERIA COURSE 7/2023

The visit of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General F Yahaya, to the Army War College Nigeria was a significant event aimed at educating participants about his vision for the Nigerian Army. Lt Gen Yahaya’s vision centred on developing a highly professional and capable Nigerian Army, ready to fulfil its assigned missions within a joint environment in defence of Nigeria.

During his presentation, Lt Gen Yahaya stated that the pillars of his command philosophy were professionalism, readiness, administration and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of professionalism in the Nigerian Army. His vision entailed nurturing a culture of professionalism, sound administration, cooperation, discipline and dedication among Army personnel. This included upholding the highest standards of military ethics, adhering to the core values of the Army, and maintaining a strong commitment to national defence.

Recognizing the importance of a joint environment, Lt Gen Yahaya’s vision emphasized the need for effective collaboration and cooperation with other services, as well as fostering interagency cooperation. He added that the Nigerian Army continues to work closely with the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, and other security agencies to enhance synergy, information sharing, and joint planning. He stressed that these collaborative approaches would ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response to security challenges.

Following the COAS’ lecture and the ensuing interactive session, the Commandant AWCN thanked the COAS for his continuous support to the College and for making time to personally interact with AWCN Course 7/2023 participants. Highlights of the event included COAS’ signing of the College visitors’ book and group photograph.
